FWG: 5.7.17 - Eastertide: Spirit's Coming & Community Formation

Hello GNG friends & fam,

Another week has come & gone and the weekend is once again here. The rhythm of the days, weeks, months and years can take its toll - but we hope we can become rooted together in community as time ticks on - taking it on together.

So at FWG we hope this is again a time to share in formative worship, trusted relationships, and hear about what God is doing in the parishes we are a part of.

Please give us a heads up if you whether you can or can't make it out via this quick RSVP

Theme of FWG: Eastertide and the Spirit's Coming & Community Formation

We have walked through a variety of discussions and themes over the past several months as we ventured from Advent (Christmas), to Lent and now Easter. Most recently our theme has been living in a kind of tension as the church. We live in the incredible joy that is given to us through Jesus' Spirit & his resurrection power, yet we also live in a world that is fallen. ie: The kingdom is here, but not yet (fully) here. The King has yet to come back into his kingdom.

For this coming Sunday we will be taking a closer look at how the Spirit formed community in Jerusalem with Jesus disciples. We will be doing this through a liturgical reading/prayer of Acts 2 - then jump further into the story as we discern what it would mean for this kind of community to be lived out in our midst.

We appreciate you all and hope you can join us as we share in trusted relationship, formative worship and conversation of what God is doing in our midst.

The Fellowship of the Believers

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
