Good News Gatherings is seeking to encourage, equip and empower people to be disciples of Jesus and make disciples wherever we live, work and play.

The Story

I will pour out my Spirit on everyone:
    your sons and daughters will proclaim my message;
    your old people will have dreams,
    and your young people will see visions.
At that time I will pour out my Spirit
    even on servants, both men and women.

 Joel 2:28-29 (GNT: Good News Translation)

Near the end of the summer of 2015, Don (62 years) and Eric (26 years) were talking in the driveway of 1414 Hazen. They were dreaming and visioning for a new community that cut to the core of what Jesus commissioned his disciples to do: "as you go out - make disciples of all people, baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - and teach all that I have commanded you - for I will be with you!"

After sharing community meals with people we now call family, living into a rhythm of prayer together, and worshiping together in homes we have continued to see God move. The same Spirit that has been with the church throughout all times and places is starting a new expression of his body in South East Grand Rapids. We are excited to see how we are able to join our triune God in his mission to renew all things as Jesus' disciples.

MOVEMENT GATHERINGS:

PRAYER GATHERINGS: FAMILY WORSHIP GATHERINGS: COMMUNITY WORSHIP GATHERINGS:

ONE TO ONE DISCIPLESHIP GATHERINGS:   The community will be marked by leaders meeting one to one to disciple others organically and through a holistic curriculum of following Jesus in all of life.

PRAYER GATHERINGS:

We have been called out to live into the disciplines of the Christian life – individually and with others. We hope the knowledge of God permeates into the heart through regular rhythms of community prayer.

FAMILY WORSHIP GATHERINGS:   The community will be made up of multiple “family” worship gatherings (FWG) to encourage, equip and empower disciples as missional communities.  Each FWG connects to our Triune God through the ancient four-fold pattern of worship: gathering, hearing the Word, responding through breaking bread, and being sent out.

COMMUNITY WORSHIP GATHERINGS:   All the smaller worshiping communities will eventually gather corporately, either monthly or bi-weekly. The gathered corporate church will spur each other on by hearing testimonies of what God is doing in our city, hear the Word, and share the sacraments.
